Olawoye Charts Path for Inclusive Infrastructure as Assembly Committee Pledges Support

The Ondo State Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye FNSE, FNICE, has reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to delivering inclusive and transformative infrastructure across the state, as he received members of the House Committee on Works and Infrastructure during an oversight visit to the Ministry.

Led by the Deputy Speaker and Committee Chairman, Rt. Hon. Ololade Gbegudu, the lawmakers commended Engr. Olawoye for his high professionalism and praised the ministry’s technical proficiency. They urged the Commissioner to broaden the ministry’s focus beyond roads to also include critical areas such as schools, hospitals, and public facilities needing urgent intervention. Drainage systems and road safety measures were also highlighted as essential components of sustainable development.

Responding to the lawmakers’ questions, especially the Majority Leader and Vice Chairman of the Committee, Chief Olatunji Oshati, who advocated for the inclusion of the long-neglected Oba–Idoani Road, Engr. Olawoye explained that administrative bottlenecks had delayed the reactivation of the project. However, he assured that the ministry would prioritize the Afo–Idoani axis as an interim solution, pending contract resolution.

Providing a detailed update on key ongoing projects, Olawoye highlighted the dualisation of major roads including the 10km Idanre Road, the 37.2km Okitipupa–Igbokoda Road, and the 6.2km Akungba to Ikare road.

He described the Akungba project as an “iconic project” due to its challenging terrain involving deep rock excavation of up to 18 metres in some areas. He commended the State Government for approving such an ambitious project, describing it as transformative for the region.

He emphasized that the Ministry is also giving attention to MDAs, schools, and health facilities, reflecting Governor Aiyedatiwa’s comprehensive infrastructure development vision.

Lawmakers including the Majority Leader and vice chairman of the Committee, Chief Olatunji Oshati,Dr Christopher Ogunlana, Primate Oluwatoyin Allen and,Chris Ayebusiwa took turns to commend the Commissioner and other management for their dedication and called for greater synergy between the Ministry and the Assembly.
