Ramadan 1447 Begins as Crescent Moon is Sighted in Saudi Arabia

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have officially confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, marking the beginning of Ramadan 1447 AH.

The announcement was made on Tuesday evening in Riyadh after observers across the kingdom reported seeing the new moon in line with the directive for moon sighting. With the confirmation, the holy month begins tonight, and Muslims will commence fasting at dawn on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is a period devoted to fasting, increased prayers, charity, and spiritual reflection for Muslims worldwide.
