Fire breaks out at Head of Service building in Abuja

A fire incident on Monday morning affected part of the Federal Secretariat complex in Abuja, causing temporary panic among workers and visitors within the area.

The outbreak reportedly began around 8:20 a.m. at Section C of the complex, which houses offices linked to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Eyewitnesses said thick black smoke billowed from the affected section shortly after the fire started. Some staff members were seen leaving nearby offices as a precaution while emergency services were alerted.

The media unit of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service confirmed the incident, noting that the fire was restricted to Section C of the building.

In a brief statement, the office said emergency responders were already on ground working to contain the situation and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the complex.

“The fire outbreak is limited to Section C of the building and emergency officials are currently attending to the situation,” the statement said.

Authorities had not yet revealed the cause of the fire as of the time of filing this report.
