FG directs workers near Eagle Square to work from home over APC convention

The federal government has instructed workers whose offices are located around Eagle Square and the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja to work remotely this weekend.

The directive follows the scheduled national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), set to hold on March 27 and 28 at Eagle Square.

The instruction was contained in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and signed by Abdul Garba, permanent secretary in the Service Welfare Office, on behalf of the head of service.

It was addressed to the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as heads of ministries, departments, and agencies situated within phases I, II, and III of the Federal Secretariat Complex.

According to the government, the measure is necessitated by the use of Eagle Square for the APC convention and the anticipated restriction of movement in the area.

The circular noted that all access roads leading to and around the Federal Secretariat Complex will be closed from Friday, March 27, to Saturday, March 28, 2026.

It added that personnel working within the affected areas, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are to work from home on Friday.

The government also directed permanent secretaries and heads of agencies to notify their staff and ensure full compliance with the directive.

Meanwhile, the minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, had earlier disclosed that 8,453 delegates are expected to participate in the convention.
