Blessing CEO deactivates Instagram as businessman demands refund of alleged N20m cancer donation
Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, chief executive officer of Karib Oil and Gas Limited, has disputed claims by Blessing CEO that she received only N13 million in public donations for her cancer treatment.
The influencer had announced in January that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and appealed for financial support to fund her surgery. However, her announcement was met with widespread scepticism, with some accusing her of using the diagnosis to solicit funds.
Last Thursday, Blessing said she sought public support as a precaution before confirming the exact cost of her treatment. She also revealed that her surgery had been postponed due to the controversy, adding that further medical tests and post-surgery care would increase her expenses.
Amid ongoing criticism, she defended her decision not to share her medical results publicly, citing privacy concerns. She argued that even if the documents were released, many critics would not understand them.
Blessing, who had earlier claimed she was battling stage 4 cancer, later described the situation as a “miscommunication”. She said she had only recently received her biopsy results and had yet to begin chemotherapy.
She maintained that she received N13 million in donations, contrary to claims that the figure was as high as N100 million.
However, Kariboye-Igbo countered her statement, alleging that he alone transferred N20 million to her. He shared what he described as proof of payment and demanded a refund, accusing her of fraud and misrepresentation.
In a post accompanying the receipt, the businessman warned: “Madam, you better return our money, you can run, but you can’t hide.”
Through his legal representatives, Gideon Ugochukwu Chambers, he has issued a formal demand for a full refund within seven days. In a letter dated April 3, 2026, his lawyers stated that the donation was made under the belief that it was for cancer treatment, which they now allege was “false, misleading, and fraudulent”.
The letter added that failure to refund the N20 million would result in legal action.
Checks by TheCable Lifestyle show that Blessing CEO has since deactivated her Instagram account.
