INEC fixes october 6 for national stakeholders’ meeting ahead of 2027 elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a national stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, October 6, as preparations for the 2027 general elections approach the 100-day mark.
Adedayo Oketola, chief press secretary to Joash Amupitan, INEC chairman, announced the meeting in a statement issued on Sunday.
Oketola said the meeting would provide updates on the commission’s preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.
According to him, Amupitan will address the meeting alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
The statement said the meeting underscores INEC’s commitment to transparency, proactive public communication and collaboration with key actors in the electoral process.
Political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners and civil society organisations are expected to participate.
Observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives are also expected to attend.
The meeting will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja.
The event will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on INEC’s official social media platforms.
