Shettima Visits Kwara, Commiserates with Victims of Kaiama Attack

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has visited Kwara State to commiserate with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, and residents of the state over the recent attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area.

The Vice President arrived at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, at about 10:30 a.m., where he was received by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Kafayat Ajadi reports that Shettima was accompanied by the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, Senator Ali Ndume, former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege, and other federal government officials.

Speaking shortly after his arrival at Ahmadu Bello House, GRA Ilorin, the Vice President described the killing of over 100 residents of the affected communities as a rude shock to the nation.

He disclosed that a battalion of the Nigerian Army had been deployed to Kaiama, assuring that security agencies were working round the clock to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Earlier, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his swift response to the incident, including the deployment of soldiers and police tactical teams to the affected areas.

The Governor confirmed that troops of Operation Savannah Shield had already been deployed to Kaiama to reinforce security.

Also speaking, Borno State Governor and Chairman of the North East Governors’ Forum, Babagana Zulum, expressed deep sadness over the attack, describing it as an inhumane act by terrorists.

The Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Area, Abdullahi Danladi, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and solidarity with the victims and their families.

Vice President Kashim Shettima later departed Ilorin for Abuja after the condolence visit.
