Gunmen have killed Kehinde Jacob Faledon, the traditional ruler of Agamo community in Akure North, Ondo State.

The attackers reportedly stormed the monarch’s palace on Wednesday night and abducted him. He was later discovered with gunshot wounds near his residence.

Police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi confirmed that the monarch was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Abayomi, the police received a report around 7:50 pm from a community leader, who said about six armed men invaded the palace and forcibly took the ruler away.

He said the divisional police officer, alongside tactical teams, has mobilised officers in collaboration with local hunters, Atuluse Security, and operatives of Amotekun to search surrounding bushes and neighbouring communities.

The police added that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest those responsible, while security monitoring has been intensified to prevent a breakdown of law and order and reassure residents.
