Police Arrests Notorious Child Trafficking Suspect
The police in Anambra says it has arrested a suspected child trafficking syndicate who specializes in trafficking children between the ages of 13 to 16 years to neighbouring Benin Republic and Ghana.
In a statement by the state police command spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga made available to newsmen, said the arrest is following the concern of the commissioner of police CP Nnaghe Obono about the spate of missing persons, especially in Onitsha axis of Anambra state.
Meanwhile, one of the victims of the suspect has been safely rescued from Ghana to Nigeria and debriefed, while the suspect is also currently undergoing interrogation at the state criminal investigation department in Awka for possible rescue of other victims and arrest of gang members.
The Anambra police commissioner warn criminal elements in the state that it will no longer be business as usual, saying the state has zero tolerance for all forms of criminality.
