SHOOTING OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AT AKUNGBA-AKOKO BY AIYEDATIWA’S AIDES IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party Ondo State chapter is deeply worried by the report of Indiscriminate shooting at harmless students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko (AAUA), by the trigger happy security aides of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa on a very flimsy excuse that the students were trying to breach the Governor’s security.
Our party believes that the Governor and his aides ought to know how to display expertise and professionally operate in a school environment where it is expected that there may be excitement and upsurge at the sight of such a leader rather than dampening the students’ morale by pointing guns or even firing teargas canisters at them. We view this act as extremely unprofessional, provocative, reckless and unnecessarily hostile.
Our party equally views the overzealous act of the security aides as a misdirection of intention and purpose as we would have expected that the security get more proactive in venting their brute and displaying their gallantry on kidnappers, bandits who daily terrorise and kill innocent people at will, rather than directing their instruments towards innocent students who were just willing to seize the opportunity of the Governor’s visit to draw his attention to their horrible plight.
We request the Governor to always counsel his aides to exercise restraint in public engagements and also urge him to continue to show empathy, love, tolerance towards the people notwithstanding that his ambition to govern the state beyond February 23, 2025 is already hitting the rock.
