Fire Guts Spare Parts Market in Ibadan

A large fire erupted in the early hours of Saturday, engulfing the well-known spare parts market at Gate, Ibadan, Oyo State, and causing losses estimated in billions of naira.

The blaze, which reportedly started around midnight, continued to rage as firefighters and local residents worked tirelessly to control the flames.

This incident followed a recent tragedy in the city, where over 30 people lost their lives in a stampede at the Islamic High School, deepening the community’s sorrow.

While confirming the fire incident to Vanguard on Saturday morning, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services, Mr. Akinyemi Akinyinka, said there is an ongoing battle against the fire, urging water tanker owners to assist in the effort.
