Aiyedatiwa’s Wife Returns to UK After Brief Government House Visit

The wife of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, has reportedly returned to the United Kingdom following her brief appearance at the Government House in Akure over the weekend.

Mrs. Aiyedatiwa made a rare public appearance on Saturday during the wedding ceremony of the governor’s niece, held at the Government House Chapel in Alagbaka. Her presence marked a significant moment, as she had been absent from state functions since 2023, following reports of a strained relationship with her husband when he served as deputy governor.

A government source, speaking on Monday, confirmed that the governor’s wife departed Ondo State on Sunday morning, heading back to the UK, where she currently resides.

“The wife of the governor returned to the UK on Sunday morning after attending the wedding ceremony of the governor’s niece,” the source said. “She was in the Government House primarily for the event, as she shares a close bond with the bride. I don’t think she has any interest in the affairs of this administration.”

Mrs. Aiyedatiwa’s prolonged absence from public engagements has fueled discussions about the role of the First Lady in governance. While some residents view her presence as crucial for the state’s public image, others argue that the administration can function effectively without her active involvement.

Her brief visit and swift departure have reignited debates on the dynamics within the state’s leadership and the expectations of a governor’s spouse in public service.
