Rivers police command refutes report on burning of FCT minister’s home

The Rivers state police command have refuted a report that arsonists have set ablaze the home of former governor and FCT minister Nyesom Wike .

The command in a statement by its spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko made available to our correspondent, described the report as a misleading and malicious one which has been circulating online.

According to the police, riot has not erupted in any part of the state as Rivers citizens are enjoined to see the report as that of mischief makers sending a false report to incite unrest and spread fear among law-abiding residents.

The police command called on residents to disregard the report in its entirety, saying the unfounded claims are intended to cause panic and destabilize the relative peace in the state.

The state police commissioner CP Olugbenga Adepoju warned those responsible for spreading such falsehood to desist from activities capable of inciting public disorder.

Meanwhile, policemen could be seen in strategic locations across the state after the notice by the state house of assembly to the governor, which the police says is to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
