Police kill 4 suspects over murder of company CEO

The Rivers State Police Command says its operatives have killed four of the kidnappers involved in the kidnap and murder of the Chief Executive Officer of HMG Attitude Limited, Mr. Hope Georgewill.

In a statement on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko made available to Galaxy news, said the late company chief executive was abducted alongside two others on March 26, 2025, along the Cawthorne Channel on the Bakana River, by a gang of notorious sea pirates led by one Preye a native of Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The statement lamented that despite the payment of ₦2 million naira ransom to the kidnappers, the body of the deceased was later recovered and deposited at the morgue.

Intelligence gathering according to the police led to the criminals hideouts with two suspects earlier arrested, as they came under heavy gunfire from the hoodlums and in the ensuing exchange, two of the suspects were fatally wounded as the other two suspects who led them to the hideouts also tried to escape and were apprehended with gunshot wounds.

All four suspects were said to have died while receiving treatment in hospital as a result of gunshot wounds.

Items recovered from their hideouts include one operational speedboat, outboard engines, mobile phones, as well as food supplies.

The Rivers state police commissioner CP Olugbenga Adepoju commended the officers and men of the police for their gallantry, saying the command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors to the state.
