Infrastructure Development: Onyearugbulem-Irese Flyover Nears Completion in Akure

The Onyearugbulem-Irese Flyover project in Akure is now in its final stages, with significant progress recorded in recent weeks, according to the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Olawoye.

Engr. Olawoye, who led a team of government officials to inspect the site on Monday, confirmed that the contractor is currently casting the final set of slabs on the bridge — a critical milestone that brings the long-awaited project closer to completion.

“This project is progressing steadily,” he said. “We remain focused on ensuring the contractor works strictly within the agreed timeline, with full adherence to engineering standards.”

The update comes on the heels of a recent visit to the site by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whose administration has prioritized the completion of all ongoing infrastructure projects across the state. Engr. Olawoye commended the governor’s leadership, noting that his commitment to timely project delivery has been instrumental in driving the momentum.

Once completed, the Onyearugbulem-Irese Flyover is expected to ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and improve urban connectivity within Akure, the Ondo State capital.

“The flyover will not only be a landmark structure but also a major infrastructural asset for Akure and the state at large,” Olawoye added.
