Wake up, defend your land, Ondo Amotekun urges youths

The Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has called on the youths of the Ondo Central Senatorial District to actively participate in strengthening the state’s security framework.
Adeleye made the appeal during a security interactive session held in Ondo Town, emphasizing the critical role of the youth in sustaining peace and safety across the state.

Bringing greetings from Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Adeleye explained the importance of holding the forum outside the state capital to foster direct engagement with the people.

“It is not a mistake that we decided to meet in Ondo Town,” he stated. “We want to go beyond the usual and experience every part of the state first-hand.”
He urged the youths not to leave the burden of security solely to the government.
“You are our future. You cannot leave the security architecture of the state to government alone.
It’s a joint venture,” he said. “Let us begin the journey together to uphold the values and virtues of humanity. When you stand strong, others will follow.”

Adding to the discourse, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Security, Hon. Benedict Gbayisemore, reiterated the importance of local involvement in the state’s security efforts.
He highlighted that the choice of Ondo Town for the forum was deliberate, aiming to reach a broader section of the youth population.
Gbayisemore stressed the need for community support for Amotekun, describing it as a grassroots security outfit tailored to the needs of the people.

“We must support Amotekun because it is our own. Our support will empower them to do more,” he said.
He further noted that a significant portion of security threats in Ondo State originate from outside the region, reinforcing the need for local vigilance and collaboration.
He encouraged the youths to consider becoming Amotekun ambassadors by providing timely intelligence and being proactive in community safety initiatives.

“Together, we can make Ondo State a model of peace and security,” he concluded.
