As the world marks International Children’s Day today, the Executive Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB) Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan has called on parents and other Stakeholders’ to exhibit a culture of kindness and empathy towards the children especially the less privileged amongst them.
ODSUBEB boss made the call in his goodwill message to identify with the Children on occasion dedicated to enhancing the education, welfare and protection of children worldwide especially in crisis prone areas.
In the message which is in tandem with the theme of this year’s International Children’s Day celebration; “Stand up, Speak up: Building A Free Bullying Generation” Olabimtan emphasized the importance of creating a safe and supportive learning environment for all children
The former Speaker Ondo State, House of Assembly who used the occasion to commend Ondo State Governor Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa commitment to the welfare of children especially of Ondo State extraction said Ondo State schools going children’s have never had it so good.
He said under its EASE AGENDA this administration has invested heavily in improving infrastructure in Public Primary Schools across the State by building, constructing reconstructing and rehabilitating over 900 classrooms, fences and bole – holes
To relieve the burden of payment of school fees on payment on parents and guardians the government has been implementing a free qualitative education policy couple with provisions and distributions of free Instructional materials and Sports Equipment to Public Primary Schools in the State at no cost.
While commending Governor Aiyedatiwa for the approval and payment of matching grants as at and when due he congratulated Ondo State Children and their parents for witnessing another celebration praying that they will witness more glorious days ahead.
ODSUBEB boss equally recognized the pivotal roles teachers are playing in moulding the minds of the children as future leaders said the Board will continue to place premium on their professional development through training and retraining to equip them to deliver on their mandates.
Earlier in the week Rt Hon Olabimtan who Chaired an A- Day Workshop on the central Theme of this Year’s Children Day Celebration said the theme was apt and fitting.
He decried bullying in schools by describing it as a serious issue that can have long lasting effects on children’s emotional and psychological well-being if not quickly addressed.
