100 DAYS IN OFFICE: GOV. AIYEDATIWA IS CHANGING ONDO STATE’S DEVELOPMENT LANDSCAPE

…Governor is prioritizing past, present, and future infrastructure projects – Engr. Ayorinde Olawoye

As Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa marks 100 days in office, his administration has earned widespread commendation for the massive transformation of Ondo State’s infrastructure sector. In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, FNSE, FNICE, the administration’s commitment to delivering legacy projects across all local governments is described as “unparalleled in recent history.”

According to Engr. Olawoye, “Governor Aiyedatiwa gave a clear mandate from day one: all existing projects must continue and be delivered, and new ones must begin simultaneously. The first step was the rehabilitation of selected roads across the three senatorial districts. Today, those roads are completed, and road users are enjoying smooth drives.”

One of the landmark initiatives is the construction of the Ondo State Judiciary Complex, a purpose-built facility that will feature ceremonial courts, modular courtrooms, a registry, a legal library, exhibition spaces, and modern parking. This project is poised to revolutionize justice delivery and reinforce the rule of law in the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration has launched transformative road projects including the 28km Akotogbo–Iju-Osun Road in Irele LGA. The road connects the Free Trade Zone to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, enhancing logistics and promoting trade.

The government also commenced the reconstruction and overlay of over 50 township roads across all 18 local government areas, with major projects such as the Iwaro-Ayegunle Road in Akoko, Kajola Lane in Owo, and multiple roads in Akure and Okitipupa already underway.

In the education sector, the Aiyedatiwa-led government has approved the construction and renovation of technical colleges and Unity Secondary Schools across the state. Projects include classroom blocks, perimeter fencing, and hostel upgrades in Akoko, Owo, Akure North, Idanre, Ondo, Okitipupa, and Ilaje.

Additional infrastructure projects include: Construction of Omuro International Market at Ode-Ugbo, Building of sedimentation tanks in Aboto, Construction of landing walkways in Ilaje and Ese-Odo, 32 terraced four-bedroom apartments at Alagbaka, Upgrading of Fasoranti Park in Akure, Commissioning of Obas Council Secretariat, Investment House, and fire service trucks to enhance public safety.

Engr. Olawoye emphasized that both new and inherited projects have received significant attention, including the dualization of Akure-Oda Road (now completed and commissioned), the Shagari/Onyarubulem junction Flyover, and the Ijoka Road expansion. Contractors have been fully mobilized back to sites and several roads are now completed or nearing completion.

Among the completed and ongoing projects under the governor’s 100-day infrastructure push are: Ajegunle Street (Asphalt overlay), Gbangbalogun-Odole-Odi Olowo Road, Eco Bank-Iro Road, Omotosho Street, Iju-Odo, Ministry of Niger Delta Road, Igbokoda, Multiple road rehabilitation projects in Ore, Owo, Akoko, and Ilaje axis, Dualisation of Akure–Idanre Road, Construction of 27.9km Ode Ajagba–Akotogbo–Iju-Osun Road.

Notably, the government has also resumed the Modern Banquet Hall Project at Alagbaka, abandoned since 2007, initially begun under former Governor Agagu. “That project symbolizes our approach: we will not allow public funds to be wasted. We will finish what others left behind and initiate what the future demands,” Engr. Olawoye added.

At a series of events to mark the 100 days milestone, Governor Aiyedatiwa commissioned the Akure–Oda Road, NCI–Hospital Road in Ondo West, Gbangbalogun Road in Akure, and flagged off the dualisation of Okitipupa–Igbokoda and the long-awaited Akungba–Ikare Road.

According to Engr. Olawoye, these projects are not mere photo opportunities but key drivers of economic revitalization. “Various legacy projects are still in the pipeline; from flyovers to public buildings and dualized roads, all aligned with the governor’s ‘OUR EASE’ development agenda.”

He praised Governor Aiyedatiwa for his leadership and visionary commitment to inclusive development. “Mr. Governor has made it clear: every community matters. Every road, every school, every market we build must serve the people. This administration is about continuity, completion, and new beginnings.”

Engr. Olawoye also expressed appreciation to all ministries, government agencies, political leaders, and the people of Ondo State for their cooperation and support in making the 100-day achievements possible.

As the governor moves beyond this milestone, citizens and stakeholders are optimistic that Ondo State is well on its way to becoming a model of modern governance, infrastructural development, and sustainable progress.
