Tinubu to mark 74th birthday quietly ‘in line with national mood’
President Bola Tinubu has said he will celebrate his 74th birthday in a subdued manner, in keeping with the current mood of the nation.
In a message released on Sunday, the president noted that his decision follows his tradition of aligning personal celebrations with national circumstances.
He expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their goodwill, prayers and support.
“I want to take this moment to thank Nigerians for their messages, show of love and prayers on the occasion of my 74th birthday,” he said, while also appreciating citizens for their patriotism and solidarity with his administration.
Tinubu further acknowledged individuals and organisations that placed birthday messages in the media, as well as those who sent goodwill messages through various platforms.
He extended special appreciation to his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, for her kind words, and to Vice-President Kashim Shettima for his remarks.
Reflecting on his administration’s journey so far, the president expressed optimism about the country’s future. He admitted that the government has faced challenges since the introduction of its reforms but noted that there are signs of progress.
“As we approach the third anniversary of our administration, I am convinced that we will succeed in building a brighter future for Nigerians and generations to come,” he said.
Tinubu added that although recent global developments, including the Middle East crisis, have posed setbacks, there is hope ahead.
He emphasised that the achievements recorded so far are a collective effort and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing existing challenges.
“With continued support from Nigerians, we will overcome and deliver on our promises,” he said.
