Suspected mentally unstable man kills three siblings in Ondo community

A suspected mentally unstable 28-year-old man has allegedly killed three children in Okitipupa LGA of Ondo State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the suspect, identified as Femi Agbeye, reportedly attacked the victims, said to be his siblings, with a cutlass inside their residence.

The victims were identified as Bose Agbeye (20), Dupe Agbeye (7), and Blessing Agbeye (5).

Confirming the incident, Jimoh Abayomi, the police spokesperson in Ondo, said the suspect has been arrested and that an investigation is ongoing.

He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that due process will be followed to ensure justice.

Residents said the suspect, believed to be mentally unstable, carried out the attack earlier in the day before fleeing the scene.

A resident who spoke anonymously described the incident as horrifying, noting that the victims were members of the same family.

The family head, identified as Baba Agbeye, had left home with his wife and youngest child for their oil farm when the attack happened.

Sources said that while returning, they encountered the suspect heading toward the Ayeka area, claiming he was coming from the family house, unaware that the killings had already taken place.

The remains of the victims have been deposited at the state specialist hospital.
