Over 117 Corps Members in Abia State Await October 2024 Allowance Amidst Nationwide Stipend Increase
In Abia State, over 117 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have raised concerns over the non-payment of their monthly allowances of ₦33,000 for October 2024. Despite fulfilling all required duties and completing their monthly clearances, these corps members, including those from Batch A1 and Batch A2, have not received their stipends for that particular month.
These recurring delays have raised concerns about the efficiency of the NYSC’s payment system and the welfare of corps members nationwide. The NYSC management has acknowledged these issues in the past, attributing delays to administrative challenges and technical glitches in the payment system. However, affected corps members are urging for more proactive measures to ensure timely disbursement of allowances, emphasizing the importance of these funds in supporting their service year commitments. In light of these challenges, corps members are advised to maintain regular communication with their Local Government Inspectors and, if necessary, submit formal requests to the NYSC for the release of their outstanding allowances.
Corps members were advised to submit formal requests to the NYSC for the release of their outstanding allowances. Although they promptly complied, there has been no positive outcome since October. The prompt resolution of these payment issues is essential to uphold the morale and welfare of those serving under the NYSC scheme.
