LP Opens Appeal Window for Aggrieved Aspirants Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Labour Party (LP) has constituted a screening appeal panel for presidential, governorship and national assembly aspirants dissatisfied with the outcome of the party’s screening exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the party directed aggrieved aspirants to submit notices of appeal alongside supporting documents no later than 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 25.

The directive was contained in a letter jointly signed by Taiwo Mary Ajayi, chairman of the LP screening appeals committee, and Bintu Konto, secretary of the panel.

According to the committee, appeal hearings will be conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution, electoral guidelines and established terms of reference.

The hearings are scheduled to take place between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The committee noted that aspirants could either complete the prescribed notice of appeal form or submit a self-prepared notice, provided it follows the approved format.

It advised appellants to clearly outline the basis of their grievances and attach all relevant documents, warning that submissions received after the deadline would not be entertained.

The panel also stated that appeals could be submitted physically or through the party’s official email channel, adding that oral submissions and notices sent through unauthorised platforms would not be recognised.
