Shettima spends two-week leave reading, reflecting

Vice President Kashim Shettima has commenced his two-week leave with reading and reflection, as the Presidency said the break would enable him to deepen his knowledge and prepare for continued service to Nigeria.

Photographs shared on Monday showed Shettima studying books during his break from official duties.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, described the leave as a period for the Vice President to “read, reflect, and learn.”

Nkwocha said Shettima had, as part of his usual practice, dedicated part of his leave to study and reflection.

“During his two-week leave, Vice President Kashim Shettima, by custom, takes time for study and reflection,” he said.

According to Nkwocha, taking time away from the demands of daily responsibilities provides an opportunity to examine ideas more carefully and return to duty with greater clarity.

He added that continuous learning remained important for effective leadership.

“Leadership is sustained by the willingness to keep learning. For the Vice President, the period is also an opportunity to deepen the knowledge required for continued service to Nigeria,” Nkwocha said.

He further stated, “Learning does not end when responsibility begins. In many ways, greater responsibility makes learning even more necessary.”

Shettima commenced his two-week leave on August 7 and is expected to resume official duties around August 20.
