Afenifere Youth Leader Alleges Collusion Between Ondo Monarchs and Kidnappers

President of the Afenifere Youth Council, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, has alleged that four traditional rulers in Ondo State are working in collaboration with kidnappers amid rising cases of abduction in the state.

Ojajuni made the claim in a message reportedly shared via a chat screenshot posted by Ondo-based lawyer, Tolu Babaleye, on his official Facebook page.

Although he did not reveal specific names, Ojajuni alleged that the implicated monarchs are from the northern senatorial district of Ondo State, predominantly inhabited by the Akoko people.

Ojajuni himself was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while travelling from Ondo State to Abuja — an incident that triggered public outrage and calls for his immediate release.

During his captivity, his abductors, suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, released distressing images and videos of Ojajuni, where he was seen pleading for a N100 million ransom. He was eventually freed after spending 12 days in captivity.

In the leaked chat, Ojajuni stated: “Four Obas are working with the Fulani herdsmen from Ondo State North. We don’t want to speak because the governor is from Ilaje Local Government… If anyone insults Ilaje, I will come out.”

Ojajuni further reinforced his position in a video posted on Monday, questioning why the state government and security agencies have yet to invite him for a debrief or investigation regarding his abduction experience.

“I will be waiting for an update when the Ondo State Police invite me for investigation,” he said.

Reacting briefly, the Ondo State Police Command stated that it would issue an official response to the allegations in due course.
