The leadership of the Women Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (WCCIMA) Akure paid a courtesy visit today to Mrs. Olamide Falana, the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Gender. The visit aimed to strengthen the collaboration between the chamber and the state government, with a focus on promoting inclusion and fostering economic growth.

The delegation, led by the coordinator of WCCIMA in Akure, Mrs. Adetutu Adejuyigbe, and the president of the chamber, Mrs. Funmi Ade-Ojo, appealed to Mrs. Falana to serve as a bridge between the government and the chamber. The chamber leaders emphasized the need for greater recognition and participation of their members in state governance and policy-making processes.

Mrs. Adetutu Adejuyigbe, while introducing Mrs. Falana to the chamber’s activities, highlighted the significant contributions of WCCIMA to the state’s economy. “We want you to give us a voice in the state, as we want our people to be carried along in governance,” she said. She also expressed the chamber’s openness to collaboration, noting that its members represent various sectors, including manufacturing and business.

Speaking further, Mrs. Funmi Ade-Ojo, the chamber’s president and formal National vice president of WCCIMA, reiterated WCCIMA’s commitment to business and entrepreneurship development in Ondo State. She appealed to the government to recognize the potential of the chamber by integrating it into state affairs. Mrs. Adeojo stressed that Ondo State lags behind other states in terms of commerce and economic activities due to lack of engagements with the chamber.

In her response, Mrs. Olamide Falana, the Special Adviser on Gender, urged the chamber members to actively participate in the upcoming Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which will be held in the state. She expressed her willingness to facilitate the chamber’s integration with relevant state ministries and parastatals, ensuring that WCCIMA is included in future government initiatives.

The meeting was attended by other notable members of WCCIMA, including Mrs. Juliet Olatunde, Mrs. Anu Adejayan, Mrs. Kemi Ige, and Mrs. Kehinde Adedipe. They all expressed optimism about the potential collaboration and the positive impact it could have on the state’s economic growth and development.
