I Am Hale and Hearty – Olugbo of Ugbo Dismisses Death Rumour
The Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Frederick Obateru Akinruntan has debunked rumours of his death, affirming that he is alive and in good health.
The oil magnate monarch addressed journalists in Akure, the state capital, via a telephone conference call facilitated by his lawyer and Secretary General of Afenifere, Chief Sola Ebiseni.
Reacting to reports circulated by some online media platforms earlier today, the traditional ruler dismissed the news as baseless, describing it as a harbinger of longevity in Yoruba culture.
“I am hale and hearty. I have received several phone calls from around the world, particularly from Ondo State, regarding the false news of my death. My lawyer advised me to speak with you to dispel this wicked rumour,” he stated.
Oba Akinruntan further clarified that he had only travelled for a brief vacation and would return home soon.
“In Yoruba land, such rumours are seen as a blessing for long life. The Olugbo is alive and well,” he reaffirmed.
