ROYAL CONSULTATION: DEJI OF AKURE HOSTS TEAM ONDO CENTRAL PROJECT
His Royal Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi (Odundun II), the 47th Deji of Akure and paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, received Team Ondo Central Project at his palace.
The team, comprising political stakeholders from the six local government areas in Ondo Central Senatorial District, Hon. John Folajimi Akintunde of Ondo West, Hon Gbodi Abidemi of Idanre, Hon Olayinka Olakanmi of Ondo East, Hon Kola Olasehinde of Akure North, Hon Ropo Olofindahunsi of Ifedore LG, paid a courtesy visit to the revered monarch to seek his royal support and blessings for the agitation for power rotation to Ondo Central in the state’s governorship succession after the administration of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Hon. Folajimi Akintunde (JimiOk) presented the group’s vision and mission, reaffirming its commitment to promoting equity, fairness, and inclusiveness in the political landscape of Ondo State. He highlighted the historical imbalance in the state’s political leadership, noting that while Ondo North has produced three governors (Late Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Late Adebayo Adefarati, and Late Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu), and Ondo South has produced two (Dr. Olusegun Agagu and the incumbent Governor, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa), Ondo Central has had only one opportunity to produce a governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko.
The Deji of Akure warmly welcomed the delegation and offered royal blessings and words of encouragement. His Royal Majesty urged the team to remain united, resolute, and focused on its mission, advising them to shun intimidation and compromise in their pursuit of this collective aspiration.
The monarch further affirmed that Akure and Ondo Central, as a whole, are blessed with numerous qualified and credible individuals with proven leadership capacity and unblemished records who are capable of making meaningful contributions to the development of Ondo State.
In his remarks, Hon. Kola Olasehinde expressed appreciation to the Kabiyesi for the warm reception, royal blessings, and encouragement extended to the delegation. He noted that the monarch’s support serves as a significant source of motivation for Team Ondo Central Project to remain steadfast in its pursuit of equity, fairness, and inclusive political representation.
