Minister Orders Investigation into Koton Karfe Prison Break

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered an immediate investigation into the prison break at the Koton Karfe Correctional Centre in Kogi State.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, the minister assured the public that all escaped inmates would be recaptured using the Nigerian Correctional Service’s (NCoS) biometric database and existing technology solutions.

In response to the situation, Tunji-Ojo has directed the Acting Controller General of the NCoS, Sylvester Ndidi, to visit the facility, assess the extent of the breach, and conduct a thorough audit to determine the cause of the security failure.

“We are on top of the situation. Our personnel are on the ground in Kogi, and I have ordered a comprehensive audit of the incident,” the minister stated.

Authorities have yet to confirm the number of inmates who escaped, but security forces are reportedly working to track them down.
