PHOTOS: Gridlock as container-laden truck crashes height barrier at Lekki-Ikoyi bridge
A container-laden truck has destroyed the height barrier installed on the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge beside Admiralty road.
On Tuesday evening, the truck crashed into the steel height barrier while attempting to ascend the bridge with a 40-foot container.
The truck got stuck at the entrance of the bridge because the broken part of the height barrier was trapped between the container and the front of the trailer.
The development has led to traffic gridlock at the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.
On Wednesday morning, traffic officials arrived at the scene to de-escalate the bedlam and gridlock.
As of 9am, the truck remains stuck at the bridge. Traffic is now being diverted to the Lekki phase 1 tollgate corridor.
