Shettima presides over NEC meeting

Vice President Kashim Shettima is currently presiding over the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The NEC, which comprises of the Vice President and State Governors, meets at intervals to deliberate on issues and advise the President on the way forward.

The last meeting held on February 20, during which the Nutrition 774 Initiative was launched to combat malnutrition across the country.

One of the issues that might take center stage at the meeting is the prevailing insecurity in some parts of the country, especially Plateau, Benue, Zamfara and Kwara States.

While almost all the state Governors have agreed on the establishment of State police, the final touches and agreement is yet to be put in place.

Those In attendance include the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq; the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibas Eke Ekwe; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia; Governor of Cross River, Bassey Otu; Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani; and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, among others.
