BREAKING: Organ Harvesting Syndicate Busted in Akure, Young Boy Rescued
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has successfully dismantled a child trafficking and organ harvesting syndicate during an operation that led to the rescue of a young boy, Eriponmile, who was abducted in the Davog area of Ijoka, Akure.
The Commander of Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, commended his officers for swiftly rescuing the child within 48 hours of receiving the distress call.
“Upon receiving the report from Ijoka Davog, our operatives acted immediately. Our findings showed that Eriponmile had already been moved out of Ondo State. We deployed our undercover agents and, by God’s grace, tracked him to a hospital in the eastern region where he had already been medically cleared for organ harvesting,” Adeleye stated.
He confirmed the arrest of several suspects involved in the syndicate, including Amaka, Ifeanyi, Adaeze, Etose, Omolara, and others still being pursued. Investigations revealed that the group has long been involved in the abduction and sale of children for ritual purposes and organ trafficking.
One of the suspects, 20-year-old Adaeze Kenneth, daughter of alleged ring leader Amaka Ngozi, confessed that her mother had facilitated the transfer of babies to Anambra for illegal sale. Another suspect, Amaka Kenneth, admitted to selling babies to a supposed orphanage in Onitsha for ₦500,000 each.
A separate woman also confessed to selling her own one-year-old son for the same amount, but the child was rejected due to his genotype.
The Corps has pledged to completely dismantle the syndicate, believed to be connected to similar crimes across Nigeria.
Eriseun Omolewo, the father of the rescued boy, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ondo State Government and Amotekun for their efforts.
“We searched endlessly since last Tuesday. Thanks to the swift intervention of the state and Amotekun, my son is now safe,” he said.
