Ibadan Shooting: Police officer Arrested as protest builds up

Following the murder of 14-year-old Kehinde Alade, tensions remain high in Ibadan as outrage spreads over the fatal shooting by a police officer during a routine traffic enforcement exercise.

The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the officer who fired the shot, along with other members of his team. The tragic incident, which occurred on Tuesday morning around 7:45am, has sparked widespread condemnation from residents, civil society groups, and human rights advocates.

In a statement issued by spokesperson CSP Adewale Osifeso, the police expressed deep regret and assured the public that a full investigation is underway, promising that justice will not be compromised.

Meanwhile, Kehinde’s school and community have been plunged into mourning, as calls grow louder for accountability, reform, and an end to reckless policing.
