Kidnappers’ Torture Pit, Arms Cache discovered in Ondo

Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Epinmi Akoko, Ondo State, in a joint operation between the Nigeria Police and local security operatives. The operation also led to the shocking discovery of a suspected torture chamber and a cache of weapons concealed in a remote building.

According to a press release signed by the spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola, the arrests were made in the early hours of Tuesday, June 18, following a tip-off from the Epinmi Vigilante Group.

One of the suspects, 25-year-old Arohunmolase Idowu, was apprehended around 12:30 a.m. while loitering suspiciously and unable to explain his presence in the area. His arrest triggered further action by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Isua, who promptly mobilized a combined security team.

During interrogation, intelligence gathered from Idowu led to the arrest of another suspect, Bada Tosin, 26, also from Epinmi Akoko. The suspects later directed the security team to a secluded building deep in the forest, where officers uncovered a disturbing scene.

Recovered from the location were two locally-made dane guns, four cutlasses, four axes, assorted charms, and other dangerous items. Of particular alarm to authorities was the discovery of a deep pit inside the building, believed to have been used as a detention cell for kidnapped victims.

Both suspects and the recovered items have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command for further investigation.

The Police Command has urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious movement to the nearest security agency. The public can reach the Command through the following channels:
