NANS Secures Resolution for Comrade Jamiu Owodunni Basola’s JAMB/FUTA Case
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) National Headquarters has recorded a landmark victory in the long-standing case of Comrade Jamiu Owodunni Basola, a graduate of Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), whose academic journey was unjustly marred by issues surrounding a “fake admission” status on the JAMB portal. After years of academic commitment, Comrade Basola faced a major setback when his admission was flagged, casting doubt on his legitimate educational attainment.
Following weeks of persistent advocacy and intervention, led by NANS National President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, in collaboration with the Southwest Zone D leadership, the matter has been resolved. Comrade Basola’s JAMB portal has now been reactivated, and his name has officially been included in the JAMB matriculation list—paving the way for his inclusion in the next NYSC mobilization batch. This resolution comes after open letters, strategic engagements, and pressure from both the national and zonal arms of NANS.
NANS acknowledges the initial efforts of the FUTA Civil Engineering Department and reiterates its gratitude to all stakeholders who stood firm in the fight for justice. The association views this outcome as a victory for all Nigerian students, a reaffirmation of the power of organized advocacy, and a stern warning against institutional negligence. NANS remains resolute in ensuring that no student is unfairly treated, emphasizing that Comrade Basola’s fight was indeed a collective one. The association pledges to continue holding relevant bodies accountable to prevent similar injustices in the future.
