JAMB: Anambra, Imo Lead in 2025 UTME Malpractice Cases

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has identified Anambra and Imo states as the leading centres of fingerprint-related exam malpractice during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

At its annual policy meeting held Tuesday, JAMB revealed that 19 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres were flagged nationwide. Anambra recorded six of the centres, followed by Imo with four. Other affected states include Abia, Edo, Kano, Ebonyi, Delta, Kaduna, Rivers, and Enugu.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that candidates used various tactics including image manipulation and the use of albinos for impersonation.

In a related development, two suspects, Bolanwu Emmanuel and Ibrahim Abdulaziz, have been arraigned before a Federal High Court in Katsina for impersonation during the 2025 UTME.

According to the police prosecutor, Emmanuel allegedly invited Abdulaziz to write the examination on his behalf at Zee Alpha International School, Funtua. Both pleaded not guilty. The case has been adjourned to July 18 for trial.
