Ezra Olubi Accuses Paystack of Unfair Dismissal Amid Misconduct Probe

Paystack co-founder, Ezra Olubi, has alleged that the company terminated his employment without completing an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations involving a junior staff member.

In a blog post on Sunday, Olubi said he was suspended a week earlier as Paystack announced an โ€œindependentโ€ investigation into allegations circulating online. He claimed he was dismissed โ€œbefore the supposed investigation was concluded, and without any meeting, hearing, or opportunity to respond.โ€

Olubi said the process violated internal policies, adding that his legal team is reviewing the circumstances surrounding his termination. He did not address the specific allegations, but noted that online posts being shared โ€œdo not reflect my conduct.โ€

The allegations surfaced in mid-November after an online user accused him of inappropriate behaviour. The claim triggered the resurfacing of several of Olubiโ€™s old tweets, including one referencing inappropriate workplace conduct.

Paystack had earlier confirmed his suspension and said it intended to appoint an independent reviewer. The company has not commented on Olubiโ€™s claims or clarified whether the investigation was concluded before his dismissal.

The incident has drawn attention to Paystackโ€™s internal processes, with observers awaiting how the company responds amid scrutiny over accountability within senior leadership.
