Widow of Obasanjo’s ex-ADC alleges invasion of residence by hoodlums, police

Safiya Mamman Jemitola, widow of Chris Jemitola, a former aide-de-camp to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, has accused police officers and suspected hoodlums of invading her matrimonial home in Abuja under the guise of serving court processes.

Mamman Jemitola made the allegation in a series of posts on X on Monday evening, claiming that the men were led to her residence by Caleb Jemitola, son of her late husband.

According to her, the men arrived with police officers but failed to properly identify themselves, claiming they were accompanied by a court bailiff. She alleged that the group forcefully broke down the gate, front door, and other security doors to gain access to the property.

“Men from the Nigeria Police Force, including officers from FID and JPU, broke into my matrimonial home under the guise of trying to serve me a court process,” she wrote.

“They broke down my gate, front door and other security doors. They claimed they came with a court bailiff, yet none of them identified themselves.”

She further alleged that this was the fourth time police officers had been used to harass and intimidate her, adding that her life had been under threat from Caleb Jemitola and his accomplices.

Mamman Jemitola also shared videos showing men, accompanied by police officers, forcefully breaking into the residence.

Chris Jemitola, a retired major general, died in February after collapsing at the IBB Golf Club in Asokoro, Abuja. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Jemitola served as aide-de-camp to former President Olusegun Obasanjo between 2003 and 2007. He also held the position of director of public relations of the Nigerian Army.
