Tinubu directs security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri over bomb attacks

President Bola Tinubu has ordered security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, following a series of bomb attacks in three locations across the city.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president expressed grief over the loss of lives, sympathised with the injured, and reaffirmed his solidarity with residents of the state.

Tinubu described the attacks as desperate attempts by terrorist elements to instil fear, insisting that such actions would not succeed as security forces continue to mount pressure on them.

According to police authorities, 23 people were killed in the explosions, while 108 others sustained injuries. The development comes amid warnings by the military of possible further suicide attacks in the area.

The president commended the military and security agencies for repelling coordinated assaults on their positions, describing the incidents as acts of desperation by insurgents.

He also disclosed that additional equipment and operational support had been approved to strengthen security operations, noting that the deployment process is already underway.

Tinubu further directed emergency response agencies to ensure adequate medical care for those injured, while reiterating that Nigeria will not yield to fear or intimidation.

He assured citizens that security forces would continue to pursue and eliminate terrorist threats across the country.
