Gov. AbdulRazaq picks APC nomination form for Kwara Central senatorial race
Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has picked up the All Progressives Congress’ nomination form for the 2027 Nigerian general elections ahead of the Kwara Central senatorial contest.
AbdulRazaq reportedly purchased the forms last week and might emerge as the party’s consensus candidate for the seat.
As of Monday, nobody else has picked up the senatorial form for Kwara Central.
AbdulRazaq is serving his second term as governor of Kwara State, and his tenure is expected to end on May 29, 2027.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that two governorship aspirants in the state have dropped their ambitions for the senatorial race under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lola Ashiru, representing Kwara South, and the Kwara North counterpart, Sadiq Suleiman Umar, both widely regarded as leading governorship hopefuls, have obtained the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Senate.
Umar is one of the two leading gubernatorial aspirants from Kwara North, a region currently agitating for a power shift.
However, neither Ashiru nor Umar has officially confirmed the move.
