Ajakaye, Shagaya win APC reps primaries in Kwara

The immediate past Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Dr. Rafiu Ajakaye, has defeated the incumbent House of Representatives member, Hon. Ismail Kayode, in Erin South Ward of Oyun Local Government Area during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.

In the official result of Erin South Ward sighted by The Informant247, Ajakaye polled 707 votes to defeat nine other contestants.

The result sheet showed that Tajudeen Abioye scored 498 votes, while the incumbent lawmaker, Ismail Kayode, polled zero votes.

Kayode AbdulHakeem scored 370 votes, Owoniyi Olaitan 40 votes, Olaniyan Azeez 50 votes, Akintunde Shittu 216 votes, Oyekunle Gbenga 191 votes, Ademola Bello 104 votes, and Ayoola Fakunle 25 votes.

The result sheet was signed by the ward presiding officer, Olagunju Azeez.

Meanwhile, the member representing Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has also emerged winner of the APC primary election held on Saturday ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Shagaya secured a total of 77,625 votes to defeat three other aspirants in the nationwide exercise conducted by the party for House of Representatives tickets.

His closest challenger, Yakub Amasa Yusuf, polled 6,344 votes, while Muhammed Kabir Olayinka scored 1,487 votes. Another aspirant, Mopelola Bashir Abdulmalik, recorded 623 votes.

The APC had fixed Saturday for the conduct of its House of Representatives primaries across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
