Baba Ijesha, Wife welcome baby boy seven months after prison release
Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has announced the birth of a baby boy with his wife, Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo.
The actor shared the news on his Instagram page on Monday, describing the newborn as a blessing from God.
Expressing gratitude, Baba Ijesha praised his wife, whom he referred to as his “ever beautiful wife” and “strong Jagaban”, while introducing their son as King Kagar Omiyinka.
According to him, the child’s arrival is evidence of God’s faithfulness and goodness.
“In quiet and unseen ways, God has been writing a story only He could tell. We thank the Almighty for blessing us with a healthy baby boy,” he wrote.
Abiodun, the Chief Executive Officer of Luminee Couture, also celebrated the birth on social media, describing the child as a miracle after 12 years.
Referencing several biblical passages, she expressed gratitude to God for the safe delivery and dedicated the child to Him.
“Our little miracle is finally here. I thank God for the precious gift of this beautiful baby boy. We pray that he grows in wisdom, courage and faith,” she wrote.
The birth comes seven months after Baba Ijesha regained his freedom following the completion of his prison term.
The actor was released in November 2025 after serving a sentence imposed over offences including indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.
In July 2022, a Lagos High Court sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment. However, the sentences were ordered to run concurrently, reducing the actual time spent in custody.
During his incarceration, Baba Ijesha repeatedly maintained his innocence. In 2024, he claimed he had been set up and insisted he was acting according to a script given to him by a colleague.
