Morayo Afolabi-Brown Reveals Why She Left Harvesters Church
Media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown has disclosed that a failed romantic relationship led to her departure from Harvesters International Christian Centre (HICC).
The television host made the revelation during a conversation with the church’s lead pastor, Bolaji Idowu, where she reflected on her time as a member and minister in the church.
Afolabi-Brown explained that she was once the head usher at HICC and was actively involved in church activities. According to her, she was in a relationship with a fellow minister in the church, but things became difficult after the relationship ended.
She said remaining in the same ministry environment after the breakup proved challenging, despite efforts by Pastor Idowu to persuade both parties to stay.
Recalling the experience, she said, “My first church in Nigeria was Harvesters International and I was the head usher there. I left because of a man.”
She explained that she and the minister were deeply involved in church service before the relationship ended.
“We were very close, but he broke up with me. Pastor Bolaji tried to get us to stay, but I felt it would be difficult for us to continue attending ministers’ meetings together after the breakup,” she said.
According to Afolabi-Brown, Pastor Idowu appealed to her not to leave the church, but she eventually decided to move on.
“The pastor begged me to stay, but I left. That was the reason I departed from the church,” she added.
Afolabi-Brown is the only daughter of the late Alao Aka-Bashorun. She previously served as deputy director of programmes at TVC News and is widely known as a host of the breakfast programme Your View.
She is married to Femi Afolabi-Brown, and the couple has four children.
