Gunmen invade Borno school, abduct students during NECO SSCE
Suspected gunmen have attacked Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting an unspecified number of students while they were writing the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The attack occurred on Monday morning, disrupting the examination and throwing the school into panic.
A teacher was reportedly killed during the assault, while another sustained injuries.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, said security agencies were responding to the situation. He added that several students remain unaccounted for following the attack.
Authorities have yet to confirm the exact number of students abducted or provide further details on efforts to rescue the victims.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting schools in parts of northeastern Nigeria, where armed groups continue to pose security challenges.
