NYSC warns prospective corps members against night travel, issues orientation camp guidelines

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has released fresh guidelines for prospective corps members ahead of the forthcoming orientation exercise, urging them to avoid travelling at night and comply with registration requirements.

In a notice shared on its official X account on Monday, the scheme advised prospective corps members to prioritise their safety while travelling to their designated orientation camps.

“Prospective Corps Members are advised not to travel at night to the orientation camp,” the statement read.

The NYSC also warned that candidates whose graduation dates on their call-up letters differ from those on their statements of results would not be registered at the orientation camps.

It directed affected candidates to resolve such discrepancies with their Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting to camp.

“Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in the date of graduation on their call-up letters and the date on their statement of results will not be registered in the orientation camp. They should sort out such issues with the Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) before reporting to the camp,” the scheme stated.

The agency further instructed prospective corps members to print, sign and submit their registration forms during camp registration.

It also outlined the procedure for correcting dates of birth, advising affected applicants to obtain a 19- or 20-digit WAEC Verification PIN before initiating the process through their NYSC dashboard.

According to the scheme, applicants are required to access the “Correction of Date of Birth” link, enter the WAEC Verification PIN, select the appropriate WAEC examination type, year and examination number, verify the details and submit the request.

The NYSC urged all prospective corps members to comply with the guidelines to ensure a seamless registration process and avoid delays during the orientation exercise.
