Adeleke campaign council vows to hold APC senator accountable over alleged threats against Accord members

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has said Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, will be held responsible for any violence against members of the Accord Party in the state.

Fadahunsi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), came under criticism after a video circulated on social media showing him allegedly directing his supporters to “kill” Accord members.

The senator later clarified that his comment was metaphorical, saying he meant that his supporters should defeat the Accord Party at the polls through lawful and peaceful means.

Following the controversy, the Osun State Police Command summoned Fadahunsi to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo over the remarks.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Bamidele Salam, chairman of the media and publicity committee of the Imole Campaign Council, alleged that the senator’s remarks reinforced reports that thugs and individuals posing as police officers had been deployed to Ilase, Fadahunsi’s hometown, and other communities across Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West Local Government Areas.

Salam described the senator’s remarks as “despicable”, stressing that Fadahunsi, as a serving senator, had sworn to uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“We also demand that security agencies flush out armed thugs and fake policemen whom we are reliably informed have quartered in Ilase Ijesha and several other parts of Ijesha land by the senator representing Osun senatorial district,” he said.

The campaign council spokesman warned that Fadahunsi would be held responsible for any violence against Accord members in Ijesha land and other parts of Osun.

“We will take all lawful steps to make Senator Fadahunsi account for any acts of killing and violence in accordance with local and international law,” Salam added.
