Osun poll: Police conduct route march as INEC distributes materials
Police officers on Friday conducted a route march through major roads in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The exercise involved armed and unarmed personnel who moved through parts of the state capital as the police demonstrated their preparedness to maintain security before, during and after the poll.
The route march was part of measures aimed at reassuring residents and strengthening public confidence in the security arrangements for the election.
The development came as preparations for the governorship election intensified, with security personnel deployed to strategic locations across the state.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission commenced the distribution of non-sensitive electoral materials at its Osogbo Local Government Area office along Ilobu Road on Friday.
The distribution is part of the commission’s preparations to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.
Residents across Osun are expected to go to the polls on Saturday to elect the next governor, with heightened security and increased political activities ahead of the election.
