Nigeria saved N15.8trn from petrol subsidy removal, says Oyedele

Nigeria saved N15.8 trillion from petrol subsidy removal between June 2023 and December 2025, Taiwo Oyedele, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, has said.

Oyedele disclosed this on Wednesday during a media conference on the scorecard of the federal government’s reforms between 2023 and 2026.

He said the savings from the removal of the subsidy mobilised N15.8 trillion in resources for the federation during the period.

The minister highlighted the figure while presenting the economic impact of reforms implemented by the administration since 2023.
