Tinubu picks APC nomination forms for 2027 re-election bid

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally signalled his intention to seek a second term after obtaining the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The forms were purchased on his behalf by James Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency, during an event held in Abuja on Tuesday. The APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, handed over the documents after officially opening the process.

Faleke, who also heads the Tinubu Support Groups, completed the purchase of the forms valued at ₦100 million, marking an early step in the president’s re-election campaign within the ruling party.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, while governorship and state assembly elections will take place on February 6, 2027.

INEC said party primaries are expected to run from April 23 to May 30, 2026, including the resolution of disputes. Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, with governorship and state assembly campaigns starting on September 9, 2026.
