Let’s Protect Our Democracy, Preserve Our Future, Hon. Adeola Fynch Charges Nigerians on Democracy Day

The Secretary to Akure South Local Government, Hon. Adeola Fynch, has called on Nigerians to rise in unity to protect and preserve the nation’s democracy as the country marks Democracy Day 2025. She described the day as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigeria’s past and present heroes who stood firm in the face of tyranny to uphold the principles of freedom, justice, and people-driven governance.

Hon. Adeola paid tribute to democratic icons whose courage and sacrifice paved the way for 26 years of uninterrupted civilian rule. According to her, “Democracy thrives when the people remain vigilant, when institutions are strengthened, and when we all support the system . We must never take for granted the voices that were silenced so ours could be heard.” She emphasized that the responsibility of sustaining Nigeria’s democratic gains rests on every citizen, regardless of status or political affiliation.

She urged Nigerians to continue to uphold democratic values through active participation, constructive dialogue, and peaceful coexistence. “Democracy is not a destination but a continuous journey. Let us play our parts; in our homes, our communities, and in governance, to build a Nigeria that reflects the collective dreams of its people. The future of our democracy depends on our actions today.” Hon. Adeola concluded with a firm commitment to inclusive and responsive local governance that reflects the will of the people.
