APC’s Ayoola-Elegbeji wins Ogun by-election with 41,000 votes

Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Remo Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday in Ogun State.

She secured **41,237 votes**, defeating her closest rival, Bola Oluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 14,324 votes, while the African Democratic Congress scored **289 votes.

Results announced by Returning Officer, Prof. Kazeem Bello, showed that Ayoola-Elegbeji led in all three local government areas — Sagamu, Ikenne and Remo North.

Remo North:APC 8,052 | PDP 992 | ADC 37
Sagamu:APC 22,958 | PDP 7,737 | ADC 179

Prof. Bello declared Ayoola-Elegbeji winner, having met the requirements of the Electoral Act and secured the highest number of votes to fill the vacant House of Representatives seat.

In her acceptance speech, Ayoola-Elegbeji thanked the electorate and promised to focus on youth empowerment, job creation and infrastructural development to honour the legacy of her late predecessor, Adewunmi Onanuga.
